had a leaking front axle. Looked as if coming from diff pan behind diff guard, so i removed it expecting to find rust hole, but found a 3" crack in the axle casing.will weld it up on saturday. Not quite what i expected but its a landrover so it likes to throw surprises at you.

Also replaced the brake vacum pump and it no longer sounds like a bag of spanners
